TEHRAN - President Ahmadinejad has nominated Abdolreza Mesri to be the new minister of welfare and social security, Ehsan Jahandideh of the Presidential Press Office announced here on Monday.

After one year in office, former minister of welfare and social security Parviz Kazemi was dismissed by the president due to his failure to properly observe the ministers’ covenant and inefficiency, according to the president’s inspections of the ministry.

This is the first cabinet change in the Ahmadinejad administration.

Abdolreza Mesri is currently an MP representing the Kermanshah constituency and the chairman of the Majlis Social Committee.

He has an MA degree in government management and before entering the parliament he worked for the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee.

MP Hamid-Reza Hajbabaii of the Majlis Presiding Board said the parliament will vote on the nominee for welfare and social security minister during its open session on Tuesday, October 3.

MPs have a positive view of Mesri, and his appointment to the post will most probably be approved, he added.
